WVDP Chair Belinda Biafore on Trump’s Alarming Scheme to Collect Sensitive Voter Information

(Charleston, WV)– WVDP Chair Belinda Biafore released the following statement on Trump’s scheme to collect sensitive voter information:

“President Trump’s effort with his election integrity commission is nothing more than an effort to once again suppress our voters and use untrue political jargon.

“It has been proven time and time again that voter fraud is non-existent and any effort such as this is simply to hinder the American people’s fundamental right to vote.
“The Trump administration is trying to obtain sensitive information from every voter in West Virginia and in the country as a whole. This is not only an abuse of the office of the president, it’s an abuse of privacy for the American people. This should be very worrisome to all people of America. The sensitivity of their information needs to be taken seriously. To put their private information, especially information as sensitive as their social security numbers at risk is reckless.
I would hope that our Secretary of State Mac Warner will protect the people of West Virginia and I hope they call on him to do so.”
