Will Jenkins and Morrisey Back Rep. Tom Marino for Drug Czar?

Nominee for National Drug Control Policy Office is under fire following report

CHARLESTON, WV— West Virginia has been ravaged by the opioid epidemic and the nominee to run the head up the National Drug Control Policy Office, Congressman Tom Marino, has done nothing but carry water for the pharmaceutical industry. The Washington Post exposed Marino’s work in Congress to make it easier for drug companies to flood communities with addictive pain pills.

Do Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and Congressman Evan Jenkins support Marino’s confirmation?

The people of West Virginia deserve a simple YES or NO answer from the two Republican candidates seeking to represent the Mountain State in the U.S. Senate. Senator Manchin has already called for the White House to withdraw Marino’s name from consideration.

“West Virginia families are being destroyed by the opioid epidemic and Congressman Marino actually made it more difficult for the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to do its job and crack down on massive pill shipments to small towns like Kermit, WV,” said Belinda Biafore, Chairwoman of the West Virginia Democratic Party. “As West Virginia continues to fight the drug epidemic, we can’t afford to have a Drug Czar who will sell our communities out to the pharmaceutical companies. Evan Jenkins and Patrick Morrisey both need to answer a simple question: Are you with the people of our state or Congressman Marino?”
