Fellow Democrats,

I hope all of you heard the news of the U.S. Navy’s decision to name a Navy ship after West Virginia World War II veteran and Medal of Honor recipient, Hershel “Woody” Williams.

Woody  has sacrificed his life for our beautiful state and country. His bravery and commitment embodies everything that we admire about our veterans. I cannot think of someone more deserving of this recognition and tribute.

Woody is a dear friend and fellow West Virginian, but more importantly he is a fighter for our country and for that we can never thank him enough.

Not only does Chief Warrant Officer 4 retired Hershel “Woody” Williams represent all of our West Virginia Veterans, he represents the heart and soul of all veterans that we admire and thank every day.
