On Drug Czar, Morrisey and Jenkins Are Good Party Line Soldiers At Expense of WV

Both Republicans stood silent on dangerous Drug Czar nomination

CHARLESTON, WV— Following the Washington Post/60 Minutes bombshell report that made it clear Congressman Tom Marino (RPA 10th District) would be a total disaster as America’s Drug Czar, both Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and Congressman Evan Jenkins stood by him and wouldn’t criticize Marino for his bill to make it easier for big drug companies to flood communities with addictive pain pills.

Even when it hurts West Virginia, Jenkins and Morrisey will follow the Republican party’s marching orders. Both GOP Senate candidates demonstrated that they will be nothing but party line soldiers, no matter what.

“The silence of Jenkins and Morrisey on the Marino nomination is an act of betrayal to every West Virginian impacted by the drug epidemic,” said Belinda Biafore, Chairwoman of the West Virginia Democratic Party. “This proves once again that both Jenkins and Morrisey will put party politics over what’s best for our state. It’s unsettling that both of them are so quick to tweet to promote their campaigns, but couldn’t be bothered to speak out against the nominee for Drug Czar who not even Trump could stomach.”

Now that Marino’s nomination has been pulled, anything Morrisey and Jenkins say today will be nothing more than a sorry attempt to cover their tracks.
