Capitol Counsel is still lobbying for Planned Parenthood against Trump’s Judicial nominations

CHARLESTON, WV — Today, federal lobbying disclosures reveal that Pat Morrisey is still trying to have his cake and eat it too. Capitol Counsel, the Washington lobbying firm owned by Patrick Morrisey’s wife, continues to lobby for Planned Parenthood to oppose the Trump Administration’s judicial nominations.

Morrisey’s wife is part owner of Capitol Counsel. The firm was paid $70,000 by Planned Parenthood from April to June in 2018. View the report here.

Confirmed: Denise Morrisey is a part-owner of Capitol Counsel, a Washington, D.C. lobbying firm.

Confirmed: Capitol Counsel lobbied on behalf of Planned Parenthood to fight Trump’s pick to the Supreme Court. They continue to oppose Trump judicial nominations.

Confirmed: Records show that Capitol Counsel was paid $780,000 by Planned Parenthood.

Confirmed: Morrisey has taken tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Capitol Counsel.

“In the primary, Republicans called out Pat Morrisey for benefiting from the lobbying effort on behalf of Planned Parenthood and it’s still happening,” said Belinda Biafore, chair of the West Virginia Democratic Party. “Capitol Counsel is still lobbying for Planned Parenthood to defeat Trump’s Supreme Court nominees, and Pat Morrisey is still trying to play politics by day and cash the checks at night.”

Patrick Morrisey is currently delaying the submission of his 2018 personal financial disclosure by requesting a second extension. Capitol Counsel was listed on Pat Morrisey’s 2017 financial disclosure.
