Josh Sword Elected President of West Virginia AFL-CIO
Sword has served as President since retirement of Kenny Perdue in December

(Charleston, WV)– Today Josh Sword was elected President of the West Virginia AFL-CIO at their 29th Constitutional Convention.

After the retirement of former President Kenny Perdue, Josh Sword was chosen by the organization’s Executive Board unanimously to serve as President and has done so since December 13, 2016.
“Josh has worked hard for many years not for himself, but for West Virginia workers,” said Belinda Biafore, WVDP Chair. “Democrats have always stood hand in hand with the WV AFL-CIO and all workers and their families. Josh has worked with us for a long time in our fight for workers and their families and I am beyond happy for him to get to continue to serve as President. The organization will continue to grow stronger and our workers in West Virginia will have a strong voice and representation from my good friend Josh.”

Sword served as Secretary-Treasurer of the WV AFL-CIO since January 1, 2013. Prior to joining the leadership of the WV AFL-CIO, Sword worked for the American Federation of Teachers-West Virginia, from 1999 to 2012.
