Jenkins, Morrisey race to get in McConnell’s good graces

(Charleston, WV) – Just a mere week into the GOP primary campaign for U.S. Senate, the race is already on to see which candidate can secure a spot by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s side the fastest.

“As Evan Jenkins and Patrick Morrisey hit the campaign trail, it’s clear the only vote they truly care about is that of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, ” said WVDP Chair Belinda Biafore. “‘Guardian of gridlock’ McConnell has repeatedly stood in the way and blocked opportunity for West Virginians. It’s disappointing that despite this record of disregard for our state, Jenkins and Morrisey are clamoring to earn his praise and support.”

Biafore said West Virginia voters deserve to hear candidates for office debate the issues, especially as the Senate continues to consider legislation that could strip away life-saving health care from thousands of West Virginians.
