JENKINS CONTINUES TO REFUSE MEETINGS AND TOWN HALLS WITH CONSTITUENTS THAT ARE LOSING HEALTH CARE, CAMPAIGNS FOR SENATE INSTEAD
West Virginians won’t forget his attack on their health care
Evan Jenkins has refused to meet with constituents despite multiple cries for help and requests to talk about his vote to take away their health care. IN HIS DISTRICT ALONE 231,800 West Virginians with pre-existing conditions are at risk to lose their health care because he voted to take it away. His vote also charges them more in out of pocket costs while cutting a break for insurance companies and $600 billion tax cuts for the rich.
“Evan Jenkins is a self serving politician who cares more about political party and posturing than he does about the people of West Virginia and his latest crippling stunt with our health care proves just that. Only a couple days after voting to strip over 170,000 West Virginians, including miners with black lung, people battling addiction, and seniors and veterans, of their health care and risking care for 800,000 West Virginians with pre-existing conditions, Jenkins announces run for U.S. Senate,” said Belinda Biafore, WVDP Party Chair.
“He will do whatever it takes to put himself and his political games above the people of West Virginia. Jenkins’ congressional district is one of the most challenged and ravaged places in West Virginia and just look at what he’s done for them—nothing. Well there is one thing— he’s forcing 231,800 people in his district out of healthcare coverage.
We don’t have to say much his actions speak loud enough and those actions do not represent who we are as West Virginians.”
Since announcing his run for U.S. Senate, Jenkins has held events in Beckley and Fairmont to kick off his campaign. Calls to his office and requests for town hall meetings about healthcare continue to go ignored.
