Ethics Issues Cloud Morrisey in Wheeling
Morrisey promoted today’s event from AG’s office
CHARLESTON, WV — Today, attorneys for the West Virginia Democratic Party are looking into whether or not Pat Morrisey used the office of the Attorney General to promote his campaign event today in Wheeling.
Last week, Morrisey used official office letterhead to announce he would be in Wheeling, WV with the Vice President.
Yesterday, Morrisey announced from his senate campaign that he will be campaigning with Vice President Pence.
The rules are clear: Patrick Morrisey can’t use the taxpayer resources of his office to promote events that help his campaign.
“We are going to be looking into this to see if Morrisey is breaking the rules,” said Belinda Biafore, chair of the West Virginia Democratic Party. “We need to get to the bottom of this because Pat Morrisey has been known to try and pull a fast one the taxpayers of West Virginia, and he’s not above the law.”
