It turns out that advancing equal opportunity and economic empowerment is both morally right and good economics, because discrimination, poverty and ignorance restrict growth, while investments in education, infrastructure and scientific and technological research increase it, creating more good jobs and new wealth for all of us.
–William Jefferson Clinton
The West Virginia Democratic Party
Our Party exists today to represent the interests of ordinary West Virginians. In an era when well-connected, well-heeled corporations seek to exercise unprecedented control over our politics, West Virginia Democrats are committed to making sure that individual citizens and their families have a voice in government.
Democrats fought for the rights of workers in West Virginia, both inside and outside unions, to have decent wages, real benefits, and safe, livable, working conditions. The basic ability to earn a good living, to retire with enough to live on, and to return whole from the job site remains under attack today and Democrats will continue to fight for workers and their families.
Today, West Virginia faces several crises all at once. The challenges sometimes seem insurmountable, which is why our Party has created a Vision that embraces our core principles, but also the specific policies West Virginia needs to take our beloved State to new frontiers in economic strength, in all levels of education, and in protection of our cherished constitutional freedoms.
